The ECOWATEST Method also provides accurate, real-time information on water body conditions in relation to the life activity of L. fortunei in a given aquatic space.
In the same way, ECOWATEST will allow us to guarantee the safety of any of its tools in relation to non-target species, flora, native bivalves, etc.
For years, chemicals and other toxic products have been used and continue to be used to attempt to control the expansion of invasive mussels, although these methods do not achieve the objectives. The results obtained in laboratory tests have very little to do with what actually happens in the natural habitat.
The impact on the aquatic environment is caused not only by the direct effect of the spill of these products, but also by the indirect effects that affect other inhabitants of the water system.
Ecowater Technologies, Ltda, has designed the preliminary prediction and testing model that will be used in all bivalve control actions. In collaboration with Marrone Bio Innovation, this process called ECOWATEST involves obtaining real data about the effect that the ECOWATER INNOVA method will have on the characteristics of the treated water body and the inhabitants of the aquatic biotope.
